Acrobatics act: The Butterfly Lovers

To keep celebrating the Chinese New Year, we are sharing the third installment of the online performances and exhibitions by the Center for Shanghai International Arts Festival. Today you get to marvel at the acrobatic skills of the Guangzhou Acrobatic Arts Troupe of China in “The Butterfly Lovers”.

The classic romance story of “The Butterfly Lovers” is about the impossible love between LIANG Shanbo and ZHU Yingtai. Combined with Zhuangzi’s philosophical thoughts on the butterfly, this acrobatics performance is a form of artistic expression that challenges literature and art as we know it.
