The Legend of Light and Shadow
The ancient art of shadow puppetry has a history of more than 2,000 years in China. Once a key entertainment for all generations, over the years, it has become essentially a form of amusement for children. Today, to renew the vitality and popularity of shadow puppetry, artists create increasingly bold puppet plays, where traditional features meet modern innovation.
A Tree Can Only Bear One Bird’s Nest
“Zhanli is a boat, but a boat would capsize if overloaded
Zhanli is a tree, and a tree can only bear one bird’s nest”
The control of population growth is the first rules ancestors set up in order to ensure everyone’s well-being. In the Dong Minority village of Zhanli each couple is only allowed to have two children, one boy and one girl. By chance, a mysterious local herb helps their purpose.
