There exists a special population among hundreds of millions of Chinese farmers, i.e. tens of millions of ‘left-behind children’ staying in villages, whose parents are migrant workers working in cities. Those children cannot study properly and are often required to work on the farm, while harbouring secret resentments resulting from their lonely and helpless feelings… This movie gives an insight into the lives of such children living with their grandparents in a remote village in China. The movie tells the story of how the children decided to run away from home to go look for their parents. Luckily there are two adults in the village who are fully aware of the children’s need for affection: teacher Fang and police officer Sun Dayang. With the support from the local government, Fang and Dayang set up a ‘shelter for left-behind children’, which aims to give the children a chance to live a normal life.
