Tang Yun’s “Squirrel and Bamboo Shoot”

Born in a family engaged in traditional Chinese medicine, Tang Yun was a twentieth-century painter from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.

He used traditional painting techniques that combined the vigor of the Northern School and the simplicity of the Southern School. Tang’s painting style is vivid and free. His work “Squirrel and Bamboo Shoot” is a lively depiction of a little squirrel jumping on bamboo. The lifelike movement of the squirrel and the bamboo is captured within the painting.
