Opening of the exhibition “Dynamic Life, Rainbow Colors”

From May 25 to June 9, the China Cultural Center will be hosting the exhibition “Dynamic Life – Rainbow Colors”, a 10-year long project of Chinese artist Zhou Changxin. To mark the beginning of this very special event, an official opening took place on Tuesday May 24 evening, in presence of the artist himself and a selection of distinguished guests. His World Tour Exhibition already stopped in Germany, Italy and France. Brussels is the 4th stop of this exhibition, gathering around 40 artworks of oil paintings “Zhong Cai” and coloured porcelain paintings “Hou Cai Ci”.

After a welcome word by Director Yan, the artist Mr. Zhou took the floor to introduce his work and his project. After mentions to Belgium’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, he reaffirmed the subtleties of his work. “Realizing porcelain painting is quite difficult, it is like dancing ballet on a knife blade – during the passage in the oven, colors can totally change and the final result is always unpredictable”, he said.

“Mr. Zhou’s technic is giving some room for chance, unexpected results, uncertainties, and maybe to a superior willingness which transcends us all. Art with a capital “A” has no borders”, Mr. Eric DEGUIDE, prefect of Emile Jacqmain school in Brussel, said later.

Around 60 guests enjoyed the opening and discovered the exhibition in preview. Top-level guests included Mr. Rik Daems, Belgian Senator and initiator of an China-Belgium Investment Fund, Mr. Li Jianmin, Minister-Counselor of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the European Union, Mr. Patrick Nijs, Former Ambassador of Belgium to China, Mr. Wang Chao Wen, Director of the European Headquarter of Xinhua News Agency, and Mr. YE Bing, representative of the CCPIT in Belgium.

The exhibition remains open until June 9th, 2016.
