Jilin Folk Paintings

Chinese peasant paintings have become a widespread artistic phenomenon with distinctive characteristics and a unique aesthetic appeal. Last week we presented the second part of the Jinshan Peasant Paintings exhibition. Now we are launching a new exhibition to introduce more types of rural paintings. Today’s focus is on Jilin folk paintings.

The modern folk paintings from the province of Jilin illustrate the rich northeastern style. With their rough lines and bold colors, the works vividly show the happiness of the farmers in China’s countryside. Like their Jinshan counterparts, the paintings have an exaggerated approach yet boast a certain simplicity.
