Belgian Final of the 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition

On April 27, 2025, the Belgian final of the 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition was successfully held in the China Cultural Center in Brussels. Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Belgium attended and addressed the event. Nearly 40 contestants selected and recommended by 17 universities, schools and Chinese language teaching institutions from all over Belgium competed on the same stage. More than 160 people, including the contestants’ family members, friends and guests from all sectors attended the event.

H.E. Ambassador Fei Shengchao said that the Chinese language is an important public cultural asset contributed by China to the world. Hopefully Belgian teenagers who love the Chinese language and Chinese culture can feel the charm of the language, help building bridges of communication through language, bridges of mutual understanding and trust through ties between our two people and bridges of mutual learning among civilizations through cultural exchange. Hopefully they will become envoys for cultural exchange and mutual learning to help build a community with a shared future for mankind.

After three rounds of intensive competition, Ms. Elise Verbruggen from KULeuven won the first prize in the university group, Ms. Fatmanur Eryörük from Athénée Royal Crommelynck won the first prize in the middle school group, and Ms. Hania Wegrzyn from Brussels International Catholic School won the first prize in the primary school student group.
