Melon-shaped water vessel

This tin water vessel is shaped like a melon. The innovative design comes from SHEN Cunzhou, who carved his name intaglio on the bottom.

Shen Cunzhou, born in Zhejiang province, was a tin maker from the early Qing dynasty. He was also called the recluse of the bamboo forest. The two lines of poetry engraved on the body of the vessel show his high skill of Chinese inscription.
